About The Project

Baker Richards was commissioned to undertake a customised pricing review for Aberdeen Performing Arts in 2007/08, with support from the Scottish Arts Council (now Creative Scotland). The project was evaluated in 2009/10, identifying that the original project had resulted in significant extra income for Aberdeen Performing Arts.  This evaluation was extended to incorporate a four-way project between Aberdeen Performing Arts, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.  The project looked at the classical music market, long-term trends in customer behaviour across the classical music offer (including frequency and crossover), and compared and contrasted pricing and subscription offers, identifying the quantitative issues and areas of opportunity for each orchestra.
